Perhaps our first meeting preso topic could be .. setting up a WordPress website. Since this will need to be a group effort to maintain this site, we’ll need a number of Moderators and Administrators. We could have a virtual meeting where I walk through the back end of the website, and show people how to manage things and answer any questions that come up. We could ask for volunteers to deal with certain aspects of the site.
I like the idea! My website (www.writequickinc.com) is in WordPress, but I did not set up the website, and I know how to do only some rudimentary updates. So I’d love to learn more. And what better way than volunteering to do some of the NBCOMM work?
Hmm… I wonder what timezone the site thinks we’re in? I just posted reply #20 at 10:333 AM on Oct. 31, Pacific time, but it’s showing that it posted at 5:33 PM!
I would love to participate in that preso/topic, preferably virtually. I too see huge merit in understanding what WordPress can do and how to make it behave. I’m willing to be a part-time moderator, too.
Yes, great idea for a first meeting. Very practical. A virtual meeting has some advantages for a subject like this. Easy to take screen captures and test some of what is being taught.
